Log into a @winscouts.org Email account

Winchester Scout Emails are hosted through our own mail servers, so set-up is a little different.

The easiest way to read email is through webmail, at webmail.winscouts.org. Use the username and password provided to you.

Alternatively, you can set up your account in a mail app such as Outlook. Read on to find out more.

Outlook [Recommended]

You will need the following 'manual' settings:

  • IMAP Port: 993

  • POP3 Port: 995

Outgoing Server:

mail.winscouts.org

  • SMTP Port: 465

Enter your Email address now:

Now use the following settings:

Enter your password, and click 'Connect'

And you're done!

If you had any issues or it waits for a while, check the settings again.

Outlook now sends a test message:

Gmail [Not recommended]

If you have a separate Google account (not one ending in @winscouts.org, as Gmail is disabled.) you can add a second account. This only periodically refreshes your inbox, so I don't recommend it.

First, go to settings,

Then accounts

Under 'Check mail from other accounts', click 'Add email account'

The Gmail add account dialog opens.

Enter your username as your full Email address, and use the password that Richard gave you.

The setings in the image are for POP. At the time of writing, I couldn't get IMAP to work.

POP Server: mail.winscouts.org

Port: 995

Check the 'SSL' box

For best results, leave a copy of retrived messages on the server.

This will add the account, and now you are asked if you would like to send from this account, so click 'Next >>'


Use the settings below:

Google then sends a verification code to the Email,


Follow the link in the Email, to verify your address

Click 'Confirm' and you are done!
